Charlotte Cake Smash Diva!

We began shooting Charlotte back when she was a bump in mom Melinda's tummy, making her debut appearance as 'Baby G'! Now, as she celebrates her first year of wild and wonderful life, Melinda and dad Brooks arranged for her to party in style, with her very own cake smash! This little diva looked so adorable in her hot pink tutu and when she spied the huge cupcake, she looked like she was thinking twice about getting icing on her clothes! But she is a true girl, and once she tasted the sugary sweetness, all bets were off and she began to enjoy her first birthday cake like never before!

Our first cake smash was last year with baby Kolby (check it out here!) and as I said then, the white room is perfect for this sort of party, as the floor cleans up like a dream. It needs to, because like Kolby, Charlotte got as much on the floor as she did in her mouth! Actually, I think Charlotte may just go into either scupting, esthetics or massge therapy - She was fascinated with the texture of the icing and the cake on her skin! The cake was a culinary masterpiece made by Julie Einarson of "Sweet Escape Cake & Bakery" - check her out on facebook! Take a look at some of these expressions - they are absolutely priceless!

Happy birthday, little diva! You have a big wide world waiting for you and your exuberant personality! In the immortal words of Miss Frizzel, "Take Chances, Make Mistakes, and Above all, GET MESSY!"

Julie&Evan-Canadian Gothic!

Everyone knows that famous painting - American Gothic by Grant Wood. It's the farmer and his wife and the pitchfork, and is as much a part of Americana as baseball and apple pie. Well, Julie and Evan wanted to create their own version, a 'Canadian Gothic' as it were, and they chose perfect venues in Thunder Bay to create such a look! Their wedding was simply delightful, the ceremony taking place in the little church Pioneer Village and even in the dead of winter this place is sooo cool! Evan is a local farmer, Julie a school teacher, and once they tied the knot, they had a ball in the little schoolhouse and the train station. Julie had a lovely dress - very sweet and simple, and it had a very unique feature that I think is the best thing ever - pockets!!!!

Then, off to the farm to visit some of the guests that simply couldn't make it - the cows! The colours at this place are marvelous, with the red door and grey stone just giving it that old rural cenury gothic feel! Add some pitchforks and now we're making hay! Evan's personality comes through in every shot - I love his expressions! I think he had as much fun as Julie during the shooting, atlhough you'd never get him to admit it!

Reception in the Canoe du Nord at Fort William Historical Park and you just get a warm feeling from the candles and the fireplace. The ice candles were made by Julie's dad and created a wonderful entrance into the Canoe du Nord! The theme was consistent all day long (props to both Julie and Evan!) and there was a natural mix of uniqueness and tradition.

Evan and Julie, your wedding was a Canadian Gothic classic! Thanks for inviting us to share it with you!

Shoes, Glorious Shoes!!

Ah, yes, it is here, the long awaited 2011 RED CARPET of Shoes!!! From hot pink to Vegas bling, from stilletos to wellies, from men's shiny black to white sneakers, the variety of styles we saw this year was astounding. It was all about character and personality, and this is the one accessory that you can play with from morning to night. Light, mood, colour and character - these are the things that define the shoe inventory, so grab a tea, a mocha or a cosmo-martini, take a seat and enjoy the view from down there!!

The "Honourable Mention Award" goes out to the following, for sheer playfulness, attitude, personality and spunk!

And now, my personal fave - the Wedding Wellies, coming to a boutique near you! Good job ladies (and gents)! You set the bar high for 2012!
