"Take the time and share with me, Make each other so happy, Do those simple things each day, Make the kinda luv that's here to stay, Work so hard doin' all that we can,  Make real all the things that we planned, Realize we both need to spend This Life makin' luv, me 'n you." Lil Leesha

This was the wedding I've been waiting for all year! The marriage of graphic designer/photographer Alicia (Link) and GTA DJ/MC/Marketing Genius Shujah (LINK) was bound to be a funky/stylish/creative one! When she booked with us last year, Alicia had asked if she could use our home/studio as the location for the ceremony, as it was going to be a 'small and intimate affair', with only close friends and family. (Little did I know the creative whirlwind that was about to descend on us that Sunday!!!) The weather had been sketchy all weekend, and we were praying for the rain to hold off, as Alicia, Shujah and the Crew were hitting the downtown core for photos before the actual ceremony. Our prayers were answered, and the sun not only came out, but shone so brilliantly, in the way it does only in Thunder Bay. But that should have come as no surprise, as this couple is no ordinary couple, and we knew this wedding was going to be one of the best of the year! Again, it was a family pack - with Graeme on video and Brynn as second camera, and her images are interspersed in this blog along with her dad's. This was to be a tour of downtown Fort William, in all it's faded glory, and this gang just rocked the Fort! Take a look at some of these images:

Shujah and his boyz had attitude seeping out of their pores. Even when they didn't know they were being shot, they were posing, working the camera like the pros they are. They are all in the music business in one way or another, and every shot has the look of an album cover (eek, dare I say 'record'??) Alicia and Shujah met here in Thunder Bay almost exactly five years ago, when she was looking for a Hip/Hop crew to join, and the rest is hip/hop history! Hip/Hop is in their blood, and I must admit we've never had such a stylish group for the wedding party (guys - you will get place of honour in this fall's annual Shoe Blog!!) Alicia looked stunning, with the textures of her hair and dress playing perfectly off of the henna mendhi  on her hands and feet. Alan was on his game as artists tend to fuel each other's creativity, and every new location just inspired more and more ideas for exciting shots.

The gang had just finished downtown when the rain came down, but cleared just in time for the ceremony. The Outdoor Studio looked beautiful, with just the right amount of greenery and river rock to remind everyone that Thunder Bay is still 'da bomb when it comes to outdoor pics. Classical guitar filled the twilight with elegance and I was delighted that we could serve to host this most special time in their lives. Then, off to Gargoyles for a delicious meal - sophisticated, funky and artsy all in one spot!

Alicia and Shujah, we were honoured that you chose us to chronicle this celebration of your life and love, and I am so glad that you were the first wedding to grace our Outdoor Studio! You will always be a part of OUR history now. Your friends and family made our family feel special, and a part of something greater and for that, we owe you our thanks. Love to you and yours, Alan, Heather, Brynn, Graeme and Meg

Speechless, I am speechless. I will keep this in my files to look at whenever I need to smile. I always thought it was impossible to capture magic on film. I was wrong.
