Wow, what a rush, and I mean that both ways! This Christmas season has been super busy, with families galore, and babies and weddings, and I must confess that the blog has been neglected as of late. But not to worry - with the last minute 'rush' almost over, I decided to steal a few minutes and pull up what I think was the reason this season has been so crazy for us - collages! Now, we've always done collages, but recently we put a display up in the studio that features them, and boy have our clients responded. The cool thing about a collage is that it not only a good value (several portraits as opposed to just one), but it is also very personal. Most of them have some sort of writing on them, ie, names, dates, special words, etc, and that makes the print almost poster-like in its appeal. With collages, the possibilities are absolutely endless, and once I get started, I find I have a hard time stopping in the designing of them, as each collage just triggers more ideas (our poor clients sometimes have a hard time deciding!) Another thing that is really fun, happens when I feel really strongly about one style, and then, it turns out that it is the one the client loves! That lets me know I'm on the right track, and have gotten a feel for what they were trying to say in their portrait session. Alan has been going above and beyond in his sessions as well, not settling for just one pose, but once he starts shooting, it invariably leads to another look and then another. So, you can see why this season has been so much fun! And I would be remiss not to mention the Christmas cards - what would Christmas be without them? This year, our clients came in with ideas galore, and we have been constantly striving to meet their expectations. We designed a calendar this week as well, and it seems there is no end to where the creative curve can take us. It makes me excited for next year!
