Family Affair

Martha and John wanted something different for their family portrait, something that not only gave a sense of time, but a sense of place as well. So when Alan was speaking with Martha about her ideas for capturing her young family's portrait, they knew that water, sand and the Sleeping Giant were going to be a big factor in selecting a location. Now there are many great locations around town to shoot such a theme, but when you think of happy, exuberant children, Chippewa just seems to be a natural. Alan and I went out there on Sunday night to scope out locations, and we found several that were secluded, romantic or rugged, but we just kept coming back to the beach. Nothing says 'play' to a child like a beach! Martha was most definitely in favour of the beach theme, with their natural colours and khaki pants, and even though the wind was a-blowing, the shine was shining and it was a lovely evening to relax and play around on the shores of Lake Superior. The shots of the girls are some of my all-time faves - you can see their personalities just shining through in each and every shot. Take a look at some of these fantastic images:

Props to John and Martha for taking the time and making the drive out to Chippewa - it was worth it, because the images are stunning. We have captured a moment in time for you and your girls - a carefree, happy summer spent on the shores of a spectacular lake, in a spectacular land!

A big thank you for capturing the fun and innocence of childhood in our children.  These year go by so quickly and we certainly didn't want to wake-up one day and forget what it was like.  These pictures are beautiful and we will treasure them today, tomorrow and in the years to come!
