Francesca&Donato-Mood&Echo

This summer has been a tricky one for weddings - rain, sun, sun, rain. Sometimes, rain and sun on the same day! But that is not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you come prepared, and in some cases, it can even be a blessing. That cloudy, overcast look is a dream when photos are flipped to Black and White, and everything comes away rich and moody in its feel. Playing the light off the dark, creating atmosphere and a sense of history in a simple palette, it's like the echo of an old romantic song playing in your head. Francesca's and Donato's day was exactly that, partly sunny, partly cloudy, partly drizzle, but it yielded an unexpected surprise later in the day. Alan has known Donato and his family for several years now (think Donato's Bakery on Court Street - yum!) and was thrilled to be asked to shoot his wedding to Francesca. Francesca is a beauty, with a light-hearted spirit and expressive eyes that go on forever! Her flowers were lovely, orchids and cabbage roses in soft cream, and her dress was so elegant, with a shirred and beaded bodice that echoed the lines in the flowers. And again, my hat's off to you, Francesca - your shoes rocked!!! Take a look at some of these shots:

They were married at St. Anthony's, then off to Black Bay Bridge to take advantage of the few moments of sun. But when the drizzle started up again, Alan and the happy couple ducked under the bridge to find a wealth of graffiti hidden underneath!!! Wow, what a treasure! Francesca has the right amount of fashionista in her to be able to work the graffiti - a breathtaking canvas for a work of art.

The reception was a celebration at the DaVinci, and again, for some reason, the Black and White versions of these images seemed to capture the slightly vintage look of this entire day. And I had to love these shots - being Italian myself, we are a people who speak with our eyes and puncuate with our hands!!! See what I mean?

Francesca and Donato, you had a lovely wedding and we were proud to be able to tell your story through our lens. May you keep each other warm and cozy through all the cloudy days, and happy during the sunny ones!

Wow!!!!
