Go Green!

Whoa, I can't believe it's been a whole month since the last blog! We've been swamped with grads this year, and even managed to squeeze in a wonderful trip to Florida with the family! (Came back to snow...hmmm...) But here's something I've been wanting to blog about for a few weeks - it's our new green screen. You've probably heard about green screens before - they use them extensively in the movie industry and it's easy to see why. The principle is simple - you shoot your subject in front of the green screen, and the vibrant colour is easily picked out by a computer and erased, allowing for almost any background to be substituted in its place. We brought it back from our trip to WPPI in Vegas this February (along with some funky software), and have been trying it out in small ways, first with our son Graeme, then with Lauren and her exclusive Hollywood Diva Party, until finally, we tried it out on Holly and Shaun's March wedding. The beauty of the green screen is the fact that, not only can you have some wild and crazy fun with it, pretending to be in different locations (like Paris, Rome or Mars!), but you can photograph areas around Thunder Bay and incorporate those into the scenes, like we did with Holly and Shaun. Take a look at some of these green screen gems:

Thanks to all those who have agreed to be our guinea pigs in this adventure! We look forward to seeing how we can use this feature in the future. After all, the sky's the limit. Literally!
