Katherine&Murray-May 28, 2011

For Katherine and Murray, their wedding day was something to celebrate - Ukrainian Style! Both active dancers in the Ukrainian Dance scene in their younger years, their friendship turned to romance several years ago, and they have been going strong ever since! Murray is an avid outdoorsman, growing up in the heart of rural Kakabeka. He loves his truck, he loves his family and he loves his new bride! Katherine is a true beauty, inside and out, and her love for people shines in every photo. She is a geologist and so naturally, the outdoors is right up her alley as well. One thing I can say categorically is the fact that Katherine has great taste! Her dress was stunning! A one shouldered gown with subtle embroidery, shearing and a playful ribbon to tie it all up! The flowers were just beautiful (props to Miranda at the Flower Shed), as were the bridesmaids dresses, and photos in front of the large windows painted some wonderful portraits with light.

The choice of St. Paul's Anglican (and the irrepressible Rev. Deborah Kraft!) was a perfect venue to take their vows. It is without a doubt one of the classiest churches in town, and it is totally photogenic, both inside and out.

It was a typical day for May this year - equal parts rain to equal parts sun, and for this couple, the day would not be complete without a drive to the old homestead in Oliver township. It was a good 45 minute drive, but well worth it, as this place has deep meaning for Murray and his family. He spent countless hours on that tire swing, and the house (which is still intact) was built by his great-grandfather and has fond memories for him while growing up. Katherine wanted to go to Crooked Rapids, a geological hot spot in the region, and it happens to be very close to the homestead (coincidence?? I think not!) Katherine and Murray's sense of fun came on strong once their feet hit the grass, and I had a hard time narrowing down the photo selections for the blog - my initial set was over 70 photos!! (Yikes!) Take a look at some of these images:

The reception was held at the Valhalla and again, the Ukrainian theme was celebrated with style! In order to get the bride and groom to kiss, the requester had to perform a snippet from a Ukrainian dance! For this, our groom donned his red dancing boots and whooped it up with his bride and their friends! The decor was classy and effective, with a motif of black, pink and silver (Maggie's Magicals), and the photomonkey photobooth made it's wedding debut on this night, with a special background of black and silver, in honour of the bride and groom. In fact, photomonkey was such a hit that we've included some of the shots here, simply because they are so much fun!

Congratulations Katherine and Murray on a lovely wedding. Your smiles chased away the clouds and brought a little sunshine into all our lives! May you have a wonderful life as husband and wife!

Hi Alan, WOW!
The photos look GREAT!!
I musyt say the photobooth stole the show! WHAT A HIT!! Everyone LOVED it - that's all anyone is talking about! We had a ton of fun with it...as you clearly can see in the photos above.
Many thanks for capturing so many of our memories on 'film' and for making our guest so happy with the photobooth pics (its a great take-away people have of our special day)!
