Kristi & Toby - Irish Eyes

May you have warm words on a cold evening, A full moon on a dark night, And the road downhill all the way to your door.
May the roof above us never fall in. And may the friends gathered below it never fall out.
May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light, And May good luck pursue you each morning and night.

      Three Irish Blessings

When we shot Kristi & Toby's engagement last winter, it was bitterly cold in Centennial Park, but you would never have known because of the heat and energy they created. They seem to bring the sunshine wherever they go, so we just knew that their wedding this August was going to be something remarkable. This couple loves life, loves family, loves each other, and their spirits reflected in every shot we took. From the Celtic motifs on the flowers to the little splashes of Kelly Green on every little detail, this wedding was a celebration of all things Irish. We started at Kristi's house, and I could have filled this entire blog with shots just from there! From the funky shoes on the dresser to her stunning dress, Kristi's smile just lit up the room!

The church was St. Patrick's (of course, the Patron Saint of Ireland!), and again, the sunlight on the old wood just glows. Alan got some fantastic shots of this amazing architecture, and again, Kristi and Tobi's sense of mischief and love of life could not be contained. In almost every shot, Fr. Pat is smiling!

First stop was Vickers Park, still a fantastic spot for family and fun shots, and the groom had arranged for a funky old banana-yellow GTO convertible for transportation. Then to the McKellar Confectionary, one of Toby's regular hangouts where the coneydogs are unmatched in all the city! Yum yum! A quick stop at the Studio for some classy, crazy white room shots before heading off to our final destination.

The trees here are so tall that it reminds us of one of our favourite places - Three Sisters, Oregon. The mood that these trees evoke is nothing short of awe-inspiring, reminding us all of the goodness of the Earth and the beauty of green.

Finally, the reception at Whitewater, and the details could not be beat. From the moment people walked in, Flipper Flanagan's Flat-footed Four got everyone in the Irish mood, and all were greeted by the site of the fabulous candy bar! Toby (who looks as Irish as they come!) was initiated into the O'Brien clan, becoming an official Irishman that night!

Kristi & Toby, it was a wonderful day, the weather held (that was the luck o' the Irish!) and we were honoured to be a part of it. And to end it off for you, here is the traditional Irish Blessing:

"May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. And rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand."  Old Irish Blessing

It's a perfect representation of what was a perfect day all around.  Seeing Krisit's and Toby's personalities shine through; and their radiant joy was especially touching for me. Thanks for taking such good care of them.

These pictures are great!  I can only hope ours will turn out half as well!  I love the ones in the white room and the ones with the GTO.  I had a thought that I am going to ask my brother to bring his Red Mustang Cobra and do some cool shots like yours!

  • Gorgeous!
