MyNot-so-Big-Fat-GreekWedding!

Waves have heard of you
The way you caress, the way you kiss
The way you whisper the “what” and the “e”
Around the neck, in the bright
Always we, the light and the shade

Ah, Greek poetry... Perfect for this romantic, classical pairing of Helen and Dan. Alan has known Helen for many years and was eagerly anticipating the day she took the plunge with long-time beau, Dan. This couple has such charisma - we saw it first-hand when we shot their engagement session last year, and honestly, their natural affinity for the camera took our breath away. (See their blog) We were expecting their wedding day to be no different, and of course, they didn't disappoint. The dress was truly stunning, both modern and classical at the same time and it suited Helen to a T! The shots in the house were full of drama and fun and set the stage for the rest of the day.

The church - wow. What can I say? The history, the colour, the power and the ceremony of the ages all fill these shots with sobriety and strength. Dan's face says it all - this is serious stuff, and they are clearly taking their vows seriously, before man and before God. And the pillars outside the church, with those great steps, remind me of classical Greek architecture, with Helen the proverbial Greek Goddess enchanting her adoring man. (sorry guys, I've been reading too much Homer!) Here are some of those shots:

They chose to go to Vicker's park for some classic portraiture, and then took a little stroll down some back roads to check out the really great homes in the area. And this is where they began to pick up where the engagement session left off - the drama, the romance and the passion just couldn't be held back. As I had mentioned in the engagement blog, Dan races pigeons and they had to make a trip out to the aviary to show off his feathered friends. And again, a really cool car made an appearance - you can never go wrong with a really cool car...

And finally, the reception. The Italian Hall looked great in pink and white, but it wasn't until the dancing started that the Greek contingent began to take over! Plates a-smashing, napkins twirling, circles and lines and laughter! OPA! They partied well into the night.

Helen and Dan, you are a great couple with a passion for life, and for each other. May that passion take you both far and long as you journey together side by side. And as the saying goes: “A heart that loves is always young.”~ Greek Proverb
