Photography Boot Camp

Take 18 eager photographers, 3 fascinated art designers, one of the world's top photographers in one of the world's most picturesque settings, Three Sisters Oregon , squish them all together for one week solid and what do you have? Why, Kevin Kubota's Digital Boot Camp, of course!

In April of this year, Alan and I made the journey to Oregon, not really knowing what to expect, but hoping for great things, new inspirations, fresh ideas, and streamlined work flow. What we didn't expect was the quality and intensity of the week, the genuine heart of all the people involved (especially the Kubota team!), the care for which they handled our questions, and the sheer volume of knowledge and creativity present in that one camp. It was like breaching a dam - the ideas start trickling out at first (we repainted the studio immediately upon arriving home, added a big-screen TV in the waiting room for clients to view images, etc), began to concentrate on our particular style of photography, and began to percolate a sense of identity and creativity, and then, just like a dam bursting, the weddings this summer began to take on a very different look. Every weekend, Alan would show me some of his work and I just couldn't believe this was his, let alone Thunder Bay! And the images are getting better and better all the time, spilling into families and children's photography as well. We just had to reinvent the website to reflect our excitement and energy and to show our clients just what we're doing now. Take a look at some shots of the week, from a real bride and groom, to our wacky and wonderful fellow bootcampers!

Thanks to all who helped shape it, from our wonderful brides and grooms, to the families who have trusted us with preserving their memories, to Kevin and Kecia Kubota, who give themselves 100% to their students, above and beyond a 'normal' teacher/student relationship. This has been one amazing experience!

Wow, Kubota is a master and I'm impressed you went to his workshop!  I can't wait to see your photos in the coming months as you put all his tips and tricks into practice!    I wonder if my husband would agree to getting married again just so you can do the photos...hmmm...a girl can dream!

Thanks so much for the encouragement, Jen! We LOVE your style - you have a magic touch with newborns and it shows in your work. Good job!
