TED comes to Thunder Bay!
I don't know if you've heard about the phenomenon known as TED; if you haven't, well, the time has come! TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and has been a growing global set of conferences targeted for one purpose - the spread of really great ideas. It was founded in 1984 by Richard Saul Wurman and Harry Marks and was originally one conference aimed at sharing information on the cusp of the 'information age'. It met with great success and has since had such speakers as Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Bill Gates. TED Thunder Bay kicked off a 'Reinvention Tour' with the mindset of 'inspiring, cultivating and developing new and vibrant ideas' to our community, and Thursday, Feb. 16 brought TED and a host of national and international speakers to the Outpost at Lakehead University. The day was packed with short lectures, breakout sessions and a wealth of personal experiences that left all attendees inspired and challenged to make a positive change in their professions and communites. So we'd like to welcome TED and all that it stands for to Thunder Bay. Our future is as limitless as our vision, and it's exciting to be on the cusp of something so wonderful. Go TED!
