Trash the Dress-Keshia Style!

'Trash the Dress' has many meanings for people, and I find myself sometimes confused at what some consider 'trashing a dress', when it is a style of photography Alan shoots during the course of a really great wedding day. So I decided to Google the concept and found a huge range of interpretations of this new and exciting style of wedding photography. Traditionally credited to photographer John Michael Cooper, 'trashing the proverbial dress' can consist of anything from simply stunning fashion photography to a literal destruction of the wedding dress, as a symbol of the fact that it will never be worn again. (For more info, take a look at the wiki-link here: LINK) In the case of Keisha and Kyle, she wanted a little bit of both, from a stunning 'Rock the Frock' to an all-out dress trashing! We did their engagement last summer (click here to see this ultra sexy, romantic session - CLICK) and so when she called us to shoot this session for them, we were totally excited. They knew exactly what they wanted, but another thing I learned when I did my 'research' was the fact that in these TtD sessions, the couple (bride more specifically) is placing a huge amount of trust in the artistic power of the photographer. It is an important symbolic act, alluding to the fact that no matter what life can throw at them, or where the couple might find themselves, the marriage will still be as strong and beautiful as the day they said 'I do.' Alan had so much fun with them, and their willingness to unleash the creative beast, and he shot almost as many images as a typical wedding!!! They started off in one place, with the great rocky shoreline of Lake Superior, and that, for them was only the teaser. This is what I would call 'Rock the Frock', high fashion wedding photography at it's wild, untamed best. Take a look at some of these simply gorgeous shots:

Then off to Lakeshore Drive, and the same site as their engagement session. The weather not only co-operated, but blessed us all that day, and the surf is almost oceanic in its scope. Still, it is Lake Superior, cold even in summer, and you can just see the expressions on their faces as they go deeper and deeper in!!! Our son Graeme came along as videographer, so soon we'll have their video up online - keep watching! So, without further adieu, I am pleased to show you some of the images from Keshia and Kyle's most recent statement of undying love - Trash the Dress - Keshia and Kyle Style!

Props to both Keshia and Kyle for being courageous enough to not just go near the water but to actually go in! This fearlessness will serve you both well in your marriage as you face life's waves head-on! Good luck in the future, wherever life takes you!

(PS - And for all those brides who have hung up their dress... - TAKE IT OUT OF THE BOX! We'd love to help you rock your frock! Give us a call!)
